A little bird
whose heart changes colour
with the air around it.
Little Canary senses particulate matter and lets you see air quality through colour.
How it worksThe air changes.
So does its heart.
It senses particulate matter in the room and changes colour from within its milky shell: white when levels are low, orange when they rise, red when you should pay attention. A simple way to see the quality of the air you breathe.
No screen. No dashboard. No app required for V1. The object itself is the display.

You’re part of
something bigger.
One Little Canary is useful. Many Little Canaries can become The Aria: a living picture of air quality, built from the places they live.
In time, each Canary will be able to contribute anonymously to a shared map — home by home, room by room, street by street. One little bird. A much bigger song.
A future layer. Not required to use Little Canary, but central to where it leads.
Make what’s wanted.
Nothing more.
We are not going to manufacture thousands of Little Canaries and hope somebody buys them. We will make the first run only when enough people want one.
Once the first run reaches the critical mass needed to manufacture responsibly and at the right price, we make it. Until then, we don’t.
Designed around recycled-content materials, minimal parts, low power and a long useful life.
Canary yellow. Recycled-content materials wherever technically and safely possible.
Recycled board. Vegetable inks. No plastic. Shredded recycled paper inside. The box is its nest.
A box designed
to keep its nest.
Thick recycled board. Debossed Little Canary logotype infilled in vivid canary yellow. Minimal exterior. Quiet typography. Recycled shredded paper inside.
A nest,
not packaging.
Pure recycled board, vegetable inks and a simple paper nest. No foam. No glossy laminate. No unnecessary theatre.
My Canary seems sick.+
If the colour never changes, first move it into clean air, then briefly near a known source of particles such as cooking. If it still stays unchanged, it may need attention.
My Canary is seeing red.+
Red means particulate levels are dangerously high. Ventilate the space and remove the likely source where it is safe to do so.
My Canary won’t wake up.+
Charge it via USB-C. Little Canary is deliberately screenless and quiet; the colour response is the interface.

Join the first run. We only manufacture once enough people have said yes.
